Shear adhesion

Shear adhesion

Shear adhesion means the glueability or rather tack when charged with pull weights at different temperatures. The shear adhesion can be measured in weight- or time units. A piece of tape of 25mm x 25mm is glued to a polished steel plate charging the loose end of the tape with a weight. By changing and increasing the weight it can be defined till which maximum weight the glue stays on the steel plate. The same test carried out at various temperatures gives the results on the characteristcs of glues when subject to a short or longer temperature influence.
